The gift of the word of wisdom is the supernatural insight of what you have to do as a solution or to deal with the situation at hand. It's the ability to speak with wisdom and understanding, applying the knowledge of God to a particular situation, and providing a solution or guidance that brings clarity and direction.
The word of wisdom is often confused with the word of knowledge, but they are distinct gifts. The word of knowledge reveals information about a person or situation, while the word of wisdom provides the application in that knowledge, showing what to do next.
Characteristics of the Word of Wisdom
- Supernatural insight: The word of wisdom is a gift from God, and it's not based on human understanding or reasoning.
- Application: The word of wisdom provides a supernatural solution or guidance for the situation at hand.
- Relevant and timely: The word of wisdom is always relevant and timely, speaking directly to the needs of the person or situation.
Examples of the Word of Wisdom
For example, let's say a person is struggling with a difficult decision, and they don't know what to do. The Holy Spirit gives you a word of wisdom, saying, "Wait on the Lord, and He will make the way clear." This word brings peace and clarity to the person, and they are able to move forward with confidence.
Another example is when a person is facing a difficult situation, and they don't know how to handle it. The Holy Spirit gives you a word of wisdom, saying, "Forgive them, and let go of the offense." This word brings healing and freedom to the person, and they are able to move forward in their life.
Word of wisdom versus wisdom
The word of wisdom is different from wisdom King Solomon asked for. The one of King Solomon is practical gift of wisdom for his life and affairs of his life while the gift of the word of wisdom is a message of the wisdom of the Holy Spirit manifesting through someone to deal with a specific situation. The one of Solomon is the one that enable someone to like studying practical books, lives of people and situations to apply in their personal lives while the word of wisdom is accessing the very wisdom of the Holy Spirit to deal with a specific issue.
The wisdom of Solomon learn from past situations to deal wise with future issues while word of wisdom doesn't depend on what someone has learnt from the past but supernatural intervention of God's help with His own wisdom. The one of King Solomon is also the one Apostle James talks about in the following scripture:
James 1:5 says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him."
