Chapter 7
by Praise Malinga
In the previous chapter, we explored how dreams can be personalized messages from God to the dreamer. However, there are instances where the dreamer is not in the dream, and the message is intended for someone else. In this chapter, we'll focus on messages to others, how to deliver them, and the timing of sharing such dreams.
When a dreamer is not in the dream, it's essential to recognize that the message is likely for someone else. This requires discernment and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit's leading. Let's examine some biblical examples to illustrate this point.
In Judges 7:13-15, a Midianite man had a dream about a cake of barley bread tumbling into the Midianite camp, symbolizing Gideon's victory over them. The dream was not about the Midianite man but was a message for Gideon, encouraging him to trust God and defeat the Midianites.
The dream is recorded as follows: "And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along. And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host."
Another example is Daniel's dream in Daniel 7:1-28, which was a message for others, revealing the rise and fall of kingdoms and the ultimate triumph of God's kingdom. Daniel was not in the dream, but he was given the interpretation to share with others.
The dream is recorded as follows: "In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream, and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters. Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven broke forth upon the great sea. And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another..."
When delivering a message to others, it's crucial to consider the timing and manner of sharing the dream. Here are some guidelines:
1. Seek confirmation: Before sharing the dream, seek confirmation from God that it's indeed for the person or group. Ask for guidance on how to present the message.
2. Pray for wisdom: Request wisdom from God on how to deliver the message, considering the person's or group's sensitivity and receptiveness.
3. Be respectful: Approach the person or group with humility and respect, recognizing that the message is from God, not from you.
4. Share the dream, not interpretation: Share the dream as it was given, without adding your own interpretation. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide the person or group to understand the message.
5. Be prepared for different reactions: Be prepared for the person or group to receive the message with varying degrees of understanding, acceptance, or even rejection.
In 1 Corinthians 14:29-33, Paul writes: "Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge. But if anything be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace. For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted. And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets."
This passage highlights the importance of order and respect in sharing prophetic words, including dreams. The dreamer should be sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leading and follow the guidelines outlined above.
In conclusion, messages to others through dreams require discernment, sensitivity, and obedience to the Holy Spirit's leading. As dreamers, we should seek confirmation, pray for wisdom, and share the dream with respect and humility. By doing so, we can deliver the message effectively and bring glory to God.
As it is written in Proverbs 25:2-3: "It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter. The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable."
Prophetic Dreams
Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams
